Anthony, Susan B., II (1916–1991)
American writer and feminist. Born in Pennsylvania in 1916; died in Boca Raton, Florida, in 1991, a few days short of her 75th birthday; great niece of Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906).
A journalist and one of the first women to be hired by the Washington Star, Susan B. Anthony II was born ten years after the death of her famous great-aunt. The author of eight books, she is best known for Out of the Kitchen—Into the War written in 1943, during World War II. In her last years, after successfully battling her own alcohol addiction, Anthony retired in Florida where she co-founded Wayside House in Delray Beach for women alcoholics and wrote for the Key West Citizen.
