Shaw, Clifford (1896–1957) A Chicago sociologist and pioneer of the life-history method, who collected over 200 life-histories of delinquents during his time at the Institute of Juvenile Research, the most famous being The Jack-Roller: A Delinquent Boy's Own Story (1930)—subsequently re-studied by Jon Snodgrass in The Jack-Roller at Seventy (1982).
