Shaw, (Harold) Watkins (b Bradford, Yorks., 1911; d Worcester, 1996). Eng. writer, teacher, and musicologist. Lect., Worcester Coll. of Education 1949–71. Hon. librarian, St Michael's Coll., Tenbury Wells, from 1948. Keeper, Parry Room Library, RCM 1971–80. Specialist in church mus. and Handel's Messiah (of which he made celebrated edn., 1965). Hon. gen. ed., Church Mus. Soc. 1956–70. OBE 1985.
