Jean Carre

?-1572

French glassmaker who revitalized the English glass-making industry. Carre was operating as a merchant in Antwerp in 1567, when he received a 21-year license from Queen Elizabeth to make "glass for glazing such as is made in France, Burgundy, and Lorraine."
