Bernard Malgrange
1928-
French mathematician who made important contributions to the application of differential analysis to areas of topology. Topology is the study of surfaces; differential analysis of topology is a powerful tool to describe some of the mathematical properties of these surfaces. Malgrange's book, Ideals of Differentiable Functions, looks at this topic in some detail.
