Sciadopitys (Japanese umbrella pine, parasol pine; family Pinaceae) A monotypic genus (S. verticillata) of conifers with the needle-like leaves fused together in pairs throughout their length, and arranged in whorls on the shoots, with scale-like leaves at the bases of the whorls. The genus is native to Japan and rare in the wild.
