Ricinulei (subphylum Chelicerata, class Arachnida) An order of small (5–10 mm long), slow-moving arachnids in which the cuticle is thick and often sculptured and the mouth-parts and chelicerae are covered by a hood that can be raised and lowered. Ricinuleids feed on other small arthropods. There are 45 described species, found in tropical Africa and America.
