Ophiclinidae (snake blenny; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A small family of marine coastal fish that have an elongate, almost snake-like body. Both dorsal and anal fins are long-based, but the dorsal consists of at least 40 spines with only one soft ray. They resemble blennies in that the pelvic fins are reduced to a pair of free rays in a jugular position. There are about five species, found in the temperate waters of Australia and New Zealand.
