gametic equilibrium (linkage equilibrium) The condition in which the frequency of the gametes, formed by the association of alleles at different loci (see LOCUS), is equal to the product of the frequencies of the alleles that constitute them. Compare LINKAGE DISEQUILIBRIUM.
