end-member textural classification
end-member textural classification A method of classifying sediments consisting of a mixture of grain sizes which defines the sediment type by plotting the relative proportions of three end-members (e.g. sand, silt, clay; or gravel, sand, mud). There are many end-member classifications that have been proposed, but all are based on the relative proportions of three end-member components.
