Dactylis (cock's-foot grass; family Gramineae) A monotypic genus (D. glomerata) of important pasture grass in which the panicles are compound, with long, stiff lower branches, and in which the spikelets and leafy shoots are compressed. It is found in the northern temperate regions of the Old World.
