Alectoria (order Lecanorales) A genus of lichens in which the thallus is fruticose, greenish-grey or dark-coloured, and lacks the central, whitish strand of Usnea species. Spores (2–4 per ascus) are brown when mature. Species are found on trees, rocks, etc. See also BEARD-LICHEN.
