Aldrude (fl. 1172)

Italian countess.

As the countess of Bertinoro in Italy, Aldrude was an efficient military leader. She commanded the army that fought to lift an imperial siege of the town of Aucona in 1172. The siege was indeed lifted and the successful countess saw the emperor's troops flee Aucona in defeat. Following that victory, she disappeared from history.
