MILIAN, MAXIMIN

MILIAN, MAXIMIN (Mendel Gruenberg ; 1885–1953), Romanian journalist and short-story writer. Born in Ploeşti, Milian wrote for various papers and was editorial secretary of Lupta ("The Fight") until the antisemitic regime of Octavian Goga in 1937. He devoted himself to Jewish problems and contributed to Curierul Israelit ("Jewish Courier"). His volumes of short stories included Pặcatul iubirii ("Sin of Love," 1910) and Puternicul ("The Strong," 1910). In 1933 he gave warning of the dangers of Nazism in the book, 15 zile în imperiul lui Hitler ("15 Days in Hitler's Empire").
