HANBURY, LILY
HANBURY, LILY (1874–1908), British actress, member of the Davis family which also included Julia *Neilson. She made her debut at the Savoy Theatre, London, in 1888, in a revival of W.S. Gilbert's Pygmalion and Galatea. Thereafter she acted under the management of Wilson Barrett and later Beerbohm Tree at His Majesty's Theatre, appearing in Shakespeare, Sheridan, and Ibsen. Her most successful roles were Ophelia, Portia, and Calpurnia. She married Herbert Guedalla in 1905.
