ADAM, LAJOS

ADAM, LAJOS (Louis ; 1879–1946), Hungarian physician. His appointment in 1927 as assistant professor at the University of Budapest aroused violent opposition in antisemitic circles, but in 1930 he was appointed full professor and director of the surgical clinic. In 1946 he became Rector Magnificus. His contribution to the technique of local anesthesia was of great importance. Among other books he wrote A heli érzéstelenités kéMzikoenyve ("The Handbook of Local Anesthesia").
