Devī-Bhāgavata-Purāṇa. Hindu mythological work in Skt., belonging to the genre of the purāṇas, ‘the purāṇa that imitates the Bhāgavata Purāṇa but is dedicated to the Goddess’. Its date of composition will not be much earlier than the 15th cent. CE. The Goddess is envisaged as Bhuvanêśvarī, ‘Empress of the World’, and as residing in the supreme heaven of Maṇidvīpa.
