Olaf V
Olaf V, 1903–91, king of Norway (1957–91), son and successor of Haakon VII. In 1929 he married Princess Martha of Sweden (d. 1954). Following the German invasion of Norway, Olaf took an active part in the struggle for liberation. He assumed supreme command of the Norwegian forces in 1944 and returned to Norway in 1945. He was succeeded by his only son, Harold V.
