Jostedalsbreen
Jostedalsbreen (yô´stədälsbrā´ən), largest glacier of the European mainland, 315 sq mi (816 sq km), Sogn og Fjordane co., SW Norway. Located W of the Jotunheimen Mts., between Nordfjord and Sognafjord, the glacier is 60 mi (97 km) long and 15 mi (24 km) wide, with its head c.6,700 ft (2,040 m) above sea level. It has many tributary glaciers.
