Field, Erastus Salisbury
Erastus Salisbury Field, 1805–1900, American painter, b. Leverett, Mass. Field's paintings, executed in a primitive manner, included biblical and classical themes and portraits. His famous Historical Monument of the American Republic (c.1875) is in the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts. Field's portrait of Ellen Tuttle Bangs is owned by the Metropolitan Museum.
