Bossier City (bō´zhər), city (1990 pop. 52,721), Bossier parish, NW La., on the Red River, across from Shreveport, with which it is connected by several bridges; inc. 1907. Barksdale Air Force Base, home of the Second U.S. Air Force, is the major employer.
