Bartow
Bartow, city (1990 pop. 14,716), seat of Polk co., central Fla.; inc. 1882. The economy is based on the production of phosphate and the raising of citrus fruit and cattle. Bartow was established in 1853 on the site of a fort built in the Seminole War.
