WASHINGTON SUMMIT
Meeting of Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasir Arafat, King Hussein of Jordan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Musa, sponsored by U.S. President Bill Clinton. The meeting lasted from 1 to 3 October 1996; its purpose was to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, blocked since the Israeli right wing came to power.
