Arab Islamic Liberal Party (HAQ)
ARAB ISLAMIC LIBERAL PARTY (HAQ)
: Name of a Palestinian movement, founded in January 1994 by members of al-Fatah who wanted to counter the radical positions of HAMAS. Its program was "upholding liberal concepts of Islam, linked with Arab ideas, so as to fight religious extremism; the struggle against Zionism, in order to create a Palestinian state that would cohabit with the Hebrew state." In 2004, the HAQ, whose headquarters are located in Jerusalem, is led by Muhammad Said Burani and Khayr Kilani.
