Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development (AFESD)
ARAB FUND FOR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (AFESD)
: An Arab regional financial organization participating in the financing of economic and social development projects in the Arab world since 1968. The Arab funds provide subsidies (project loans) to governments, private and public organizations, and institutions. Projects of importance to the Arab world receive priority funding. Development projects include agriculture and rural development, infrastructure and transport, electricity, and water. The organization's mandate is limited to supporting projects of Arab states. AFESD has twenty-two members, with headquarters located in Kuwait.
