Al Muammar Scholarships for Journalism (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship opportunity to the American students who are Arab descent. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must: be Arab American, college students who are majoring in journalism, as well as college seniors who have been accepted to a graduate journalism

school; be a UC citizen or permanent resident of Arab descent; be a full-time student at an accredited college or university in the United States; have current GPA of 3.3 or higher. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. Applicant must also include an official transcript and letter of recommendation (one letter must be from the professor in the applicant's journalism program and second would be ideally be from a leader in an Arab American community organization with which the applicant has had a relationship). Applicant must send five copies of the following items, collated into five complete packets, each with one copy of each item, in the following order: Completed application form; Unofficial transcript; Resume; Short Essay; Work samples. Barakat Trust and Barakat Foundation Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support for students and scholars of Islamic culture. Focus: General studies. Qua-lif.: Applicants must have completed at least a B.A. degree and have been accepted for graduate study or an apprenticeship at an accredited university or institution. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Ameen Rihani Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding student to reach their fullest potential. Focus: Literature; Philosophy; Political science. Qualif.: Individual must: be a Lebanese or other Arab Descent; be a citizen or legal permanent residents of the United States; have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale; enter a college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking freshman in the fall of the year; have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Teachers, counselors, and principals are invited to nominate students with outstanding academic qualifications, particularly those who would promote success in the fields of literature, philosophy, or political science.
