Triple Entente Alliance of Britain, France, and Russia before World War I. It developed from the Franco-Russian Alliance (1894) formed to counterbalance the threat posed by the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria, and Italy. In 1904, Britain allied with France in the Entente Cordiale, and the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 completed the Triple Entente.
