Hoddle, Glenn
Hoddle, Glenn (1957– ) English football player and coach. A creative midfield player, he made 377 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and earned 53 international caps. After a brief spell at Monaco, he became player-manager at Swindon Town and then Chelsea. He succeeded Terry Venables as England's national coach (1996–99), and led England in the 1998 World Cup finals, but was forced to resign following controversial remarks about the disabled. He was succeeded by Kevin Keegan. Hoddle was manager of Southampton (2000–2001) and Tottenham Hotspur (2001– ).
