Attenborough, Sir David Frederick
Attenborough, Sir David Frederick (1926– ) English naturalist and broadcaster; brother of Richard Attenborough. He was controller of BBC2 television (1965–68). From 1954 he travelled on zoological and ethnographical filming expeditions, which formed the basis of such landmark natural history series as Life on Earth (1979), The Living Planet (1984), The Trials of Life (1990), and The Private Life of Plants (1995). He was knighted in 1985.
