Regent University offers more than thirty bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs from a Judeo-Christian worldview. Regent offers bachelor's degrees in the areas of communication, education, global business, organizational leadership and management, political science, psychology, and religious studies. Regent's graduate schools include the School of Business, School of Communication and the Arts, School of Divinity, School of Education, Robertson School of Government, School of Law, School of Leadership Studies, and School of Psychology and Counseling. Online programs are offered through all schools at Regent, except for the School of Law.

Since classes began in 1978, Regent University has grown to an enrollment of more than 5,000 students. In addition to the main campus in Virginia Beach, Regent also offers programs at its Washington, D.C., campus in Alexandria, Virginia, while also offering more than twenty degree programs online.

Regent University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; telephone: 404-679-4501) to award the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The School of Law is fully accredited by the American Bar Association. The School of Divinity is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has conferred accreditation to the following program areas of community counseling (M.A.) and school counseling (M.A.), which are offered by Regent University's School of Psychology and Counseling. The Committee on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (750 First Street, NE, Washington, D.C. 20002-4242; telephone: 202-336-5979; fax: 202-336-5978) has conferred accreditation on the Regent University Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, which offers the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree.

Distance Learning Program

Regent University serves more than 2,000 students via its distance learning programs in business, communication and the arts, divinity, education, government, leadership, and psychology and counseling. Each fully accredited program is taught from a Judeo-Christian perspective, allowing students to apply relevant ethical values to their professional pursuits within a scholarly framework. Regent's online classes allow students to connect with professors and other students in a global format that offers both flexibility and interactive learning, affording students the opportunity to maintain both their current residence and employment.

Delivery Media

BlackBoard® is Regent University's choice for distance learning via the Internet. With this powerful application, a student is able to access course material, chat with professors and other students, and submit course work and tests from anywhere in the world. Some materials, such as video and cassette tapes and multimedia CDs, may be sent to the student via postal services. Programs of Study

Online distance learning programs at Regent University include the Professional M.B.A., M.A. in Management, Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) in Business, M.A. in Communication, M.A. in Journalism, Ph.D. in Communication, M.A. in Practical Theology, Master of Divinity (M.Div.) (concentration in practical theology), Master of Education (M.Ed.) (Christian school program, cross-categorical special education, educational leadership, individualized degree plan, master teacher/ESL, TESOL, TESOL/initial licensure with optional reading specialist endorsement, reading specialist), TESOL certificate, Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), Ph.D. in Education, M.A. in Government, Certificate of Graduate Studies (C.G.S.) in Public Policy, M.A. in Organizational Leadership, C.G.S. in Leadership (master's level), Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, Doctor of Strategic Leadership (D.S.L.), C.A.G.S. in Leadership (doctoral level), M.A. in Human Services Counseling, and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Some programs require on-campus courses and/or residencies.

Regent University also offers six undergraduate degree programs online: the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication, the B.A. in Religious Studies, the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Global Business, the B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Management, the B.S. in Political Science, and the B.S. in Psychology as well as several certificate options.

Credit Options

For all online master's-level distance programs, students may transfer a maximum of 25 percent of the total credits required for their chosen program except for programs that have articulation agreements with other schools. Articulation agreements may authorize transfer credit for up to 49 percent of the degree to be earned. Credits must have been earned at an approved institution (determined by Regent University and normally from regionally accredited institutions). Credits for courses with grades below B (C for the M.Div. program) are not accepted for transfer at the graduate level.

For all online bachelor's-level distance programs, students may transfer a maximum of 90 total credits from a regionally accredited institution toward their chosen program. Credit earned through approved entrance-level examinations (i.e. CLEP and Dantes), military credit, and credits from other institutions of higher learning that meet Regent University standards or with whom Regent has an articulation agreement, including institutions accredited via approved Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) listed accrediting bodies, such as TRACS, DETC, ACICS, and ACE are considered for transfer credit. Credits for courses with grades below C are not accepted for transfer at the bachelor's degree level.

Faculty

Regent online distance learning courses are taught by the same full- and part-time faculty members who teach on campus. Regent has a distinguished faculty of men and women of varying religious denominations and ethnic origins who are noted scholars hailing from such universities as Harvard, Duke, Johns Hopkins, and others. Regent provides opportunities for students to learn from people such as former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and Admiral Vern Clark, Ret., now Regent University distinguished professors.

Admission

Student admission to Regent University undergraduate programs requires a completed high school diploma (or its equivalent); graduate programs require a completed four-year bachelor's degree for master's programs and a completed master's degree for doctoral programs from institutions that are regionally accredited. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.

While each Regent school maintains specific admissions criteria for its programs, the following are considered the norm: a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 (for undergraduate applicants only) and/or undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in the desired area of study, submission of test scores (SAT and/or ACT for undergraduate applicants or MAT, GMAT, or GRE for graduate applicants), maturity in spiritual and/or character qualities, and personal goals that are consistent with the mission and goals of Regent University.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition varies by program, as do additional fees. The tuition costs for online distance learning programs for the 2006–07 academic year are as follows: bachelor's degree programs, $395 per credit hour, undergraduate certificate programs, $221 per credit hour, Executive M.B.A., $860 per credit hour; Professional M.B.A., M.A. in Management, and C.A.G.S. in Business, $645 per credit hour; M.A. in Communication, and M.A. in Journalism, $800 per credit hour; and Ph.D. in Communication, $850 per credit hour; M.A. in Practical Theology, $445 per credit hour; M.Div., $445 per credit hour; D.Min. in Divinity, $475; Ph.D. in Divinity, $575 per credit hour; M.Ed. and TESOL certificate, $525 per credit hour; Ed.D. and Ph.D. in Education, $670 per credit hour; C.A.G.S. in Education, $670; M.A. in Government and C.G.S. in Public Policy, $625 per credit hour; M.A. in Organizational Leadership and C.G.S. in Leadership, $525 per credit hour; Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership and C.G.S. in Leadership, $525 per credit hour; Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, D.S.L., and C.A.G.S. in Organizational Leadership, $750 per credit hour; M.A. in Counseling, M.A. in Human Services Counseling, and C.A.G.S. in Counseling, $550 per credit hour; Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.), $660 per credit hour; and J.D. in Law, $820 per credit hour.
