Black Canadian Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide support for Black Canadian students intending to pursue their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Black Canadian student graduating from a high school in the city of Ottawa; must be admissible to a recognized Canadian university; must demonstrate a need of financial assistance; must be a Canadian citizen; and must demonstrate leadership in community involvement. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the scholarship selection criteria.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a two-page essay explaining why the scholarship is important to the applicant and how the applicant will satisfy the eligibility criteria; must provide a photocopy of the applicant's latest official transcript of 6 Grade 12 courses with a 75%+average; must have a letter of recommendation from a teacher/guidance counselor in current academic year; must have proof of community service; must have proof of Canadian citizenship; and must have a detailed statement indicating the amount of money expected from various sources. Application form and requirements must be sent to Black Canadian Scholarship Fund, PO Box 8002, Ottawa, ON K1G 5H6. Deadline: May 31.

George Joseph Cooper Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified individuals intending to pursue their studies. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating student from a high school in the region of Ottawa; must have applied to a recognized college or university; must be entering a full-time program; and must demonstrate financial need and academic achievements. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the scholarship selection criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form, available online; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher/guidance counselor; and must submit a copy of the latest transcript of record. Deadline: April 14.

Lord Dundonald Chapter (IODE) Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified Ottawa students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a student from a high school in the region of Ottawa; must have applied to a recognized college or university; must be entering a full-time program; and must demonstrate financial need and academic achievements. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on academic and financial standing.

Funds Avail.: $500. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form, available online; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher/guidance counselor; and must submit a copy of the latest transcript of record. Deadline: April 14.

Elizabeth Heath Post-Secondary Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support for deserving Ottawa students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating student from a high school in the region of Ottawa; must have applied to a recognized college or university; must be entering a full-time program; and must demonstrate financial need and academic achievements. Criteria: Selection of recipients will be based on financial need and academic standing.

Elizabeth Heath Technical, Trades Training and Development Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for graduating high school students in the Ottawa region. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a student graduating from the apprenticeship Cooperative Education Studies program at a high school in the region of Ottawa; must be pursuing further education or training in an apprenticeship or skilled employment program; must demonstrate a need for financial assistance; and must have demonstrated diligence and determination both “on the job” and at school. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on financial need and academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 3. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form available online; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher/guidance counselor; and must submit a copy of the latest transcript of record. Deadline: April 14.

Barbara Ingram, Janet W. McCarthy and W.J.P. Jack Robertson Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified individuals intending to pursue their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating student from a high school in the region of Ottawa; must have applied to a recognized college or university; must be entering a full-time program; and must be a person with a physical disability. Criteria: Consideration will be given to students demonstrating financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form, available online; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher/guidance counselor; and must submit a copy of the latest transcript of record. Deadline: April 14.

Kildonan Education Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified Ottawa students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating student from a high school in the region of Ottawa; must have applied to a recognized college or university; must be entering a full-time program; and must demonstrate both financial need and academic achievements. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on financial need and academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $4,000. Number Awarded: 3. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form, available online; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher/guidance counselor; and must submit a copy of the latest transcript of record. Deadline: April 14.

Jack Meadows Memorial Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified Ottawa students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating student from a high school in the region of Ottawa; must have applied to a recognized college or university; must be entering a full-time program; and must demonstrate financial need and academic achievements. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on financial and academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $2,500 (if attending college), $3,000 (if attending university). Number Awarded: 6. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form, available online; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher/guidance counselor; and must submit a copy of the latest transcript of record.
