ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To aid outstanding students who would not otherwise have an opportunity to continue a professional degree program due to unmet financial need, to increase the interest and participation of economically disadvantaged and under-represented populations in the study of landscape architecture and to enrich the profession of landscape architecture. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be permanent U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens who are third-, fourth-, or fifth-year undergraduates at Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited programs of landscape architecture. Applicants seeking special consideration for the diversity scholarship should indicate and identify their association with a specific ethnic or cultural group. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $4,000. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Applicants must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in .jpg format) and a personal profile (two page maximum including education, extracurricular activities and financial information); a 300-word essay about how the applicant envisions herself/himself contributing to the profession of landscape architecture; two letters of recommendation addressing the quality of performance as a student of landscape architecture and the promise as a professional. One letter of recommendation must come from a faculty member; the other letter may be sent by a non-academic member of ASLA or another faculty member; a Student Aid Report (SAR) as proof of unmet financial need. All application materials (with the exception of reference letters) must be sent through email as a single document. Each document must be formatted as follows: create one-inch minimum margins; include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant. Deadline: February 15.

CLASS Fund Irrigation Scholarship Program (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in programs in landscape architecture and ornamental horticulture in California. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students with financial need. Applicants must be continuing their studies in landscape architecture or ornamental horticulture. Student must be enrolled in the irrigation curriculum at Cal Poly Pomona. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a 300-word (maximum) statement on the profession; a 100-word (maximum) statement indicating intended use of funds; two letters of recommendation from the faculty; and one confidential letter of recommendation from the department head. Deadline: February 15.

Remarks: Students applying for multiple CLASS (California Landscape Architectural Student Scholarship) Fund Scholarships must submit a separate application for each scholarship.

CLASS Fund Landscape Architecture Scholarship Program (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in programs in landscape architecture and ornamental horticulture in California. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be continuing their studies in landscape architecture or ornamental horticulture. Applicants must be enrolled at the University of California-Berkeley, or University of California-Los Angeles. Criteria: Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 4. To Apply: Applicants must submit a 300-word statement on the profession; a 100-word statement indicating intended use of funds; two letters of recommendation from the faculty; and one confidential letter of recommendation from the department head. Deadline: February 15.

Remarks: Students applying for multiple CLASS (California Landscape Architectural Student Scholarship) Fund Scholarships must submit a separate application for each scholarship.

CLASS Fund University Scholarship Program (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in programs in landscape architecture and ornamental horticulture in California. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students in financial need who show promise and commitment to the profession. Applicants must be continuing their studies in landscape architecture or ornamental horticulture. Criteria: Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated financial need.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: maximum of two (2) students at Cal Poly Pomona; one (1) student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; one (1) student at Cal Poly (faculty decision); maximum of two (2) students at the University of California, Davis. To Apply: Applicants must submit a 300-word (maximum) statement on the profession; a 100-word (maximum) statement indicating intended use of funds; two letters of recommendation from the faculty; and one confidential letter of recommendation from the department head. Deadline: February 15.

Hawaii Chapter/David T. Woolsey Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide funds for educational or professional development purposes. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be third-, fourth-, or fifth-year undergraduate or graduate students of landscape architecture at Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited programs. Applicants must also be permanent residents of Hawaii. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on juries' review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply:

Applicants must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in extracurricular activities and financial information); a typed, 500-word maximum double-spaced autobiography and statement of personal and professional goals; three 8 1/2 x 11 work samples in either design instructor and proof of Hawaii residency. All application materials (with the exception of reference letters) must be sent through email as a single document. Each document must be formatted as follows: create one-inch minimum margins; include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant. Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize a student who has high potential in the design of play environments. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be landscape architecture students with an interest and aptitude in the design of play environments. Candidates must be enrolled in graduate or the final two years of undergraduate study in LAAB accredited schools. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of creativity, openness to innovation and a demonstrated interest in park and playground planning.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in extracurricular activities and financial information); a 300 to 500-word essay describing the applicant's views of the significant social and educational value of play and the value of integrating playgrounds into play and recreation environments; a plan and details of a play environment of the applicant's design in either .jpg or PDF format; two letters of recommendation from current professors familiar with the applicant's demonstrated interest in park and playground planning, creativity and openness to innovation. Landscape Forms Design for People Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To honor excellence in design for people. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be landscape architecture students who will be starting their final year of full-time undergraduate study in an LAAB-accredited program. Applicants must show a proven contribution to the design of public spaces that integrates landscape design and the use of amenities to promote social interaction. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of academic accomplishment and creative ability.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicant s must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in .jpg format) and a personal profile (two-page maximum including education, extracurricular activities and financial information); a 300-word maximum essay describing the qualities essential to the creation of great and successful public spaces; three 8 1/2x11 academic or internship work samples in either .jpg or PDF format; two letters of recommendation from current professors and/or internship employers. All application materials (with the exception of reference letters) must be sent through email as a single document. Each document must be formatted as follows: create one-inch minimum margins; include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant. Courtland Paul Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist students with outstanding academic record and unmet financial need. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be United States citizens who are undergraduate students in the final two years of study in Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board accredited schools. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum grade point average of C. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on the juries' review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. Funds must be used for tuition and books within the school year of the award. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in .jpg format) and a personal profile (two page maximum including education, extracurricular activities and financial information); 500-word maximum essay describing the applicant's aspirations, ability to surmount obstacles, high level of drive and need for financial assistance; two letters of recommendation from current professors familiar with the applicant's character and goals in pursuing an education in landscape architecture. All application materials (with the exception of reference letters) must be sent through email as a single document. Each document must be formatted as follows: create one-inch minimum margins; include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant. Deadline: February 15.

Peridian International, Inc./Rae L. Price, FASLA Scholarships(Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist individuals into may not otherwise have the financial ability to cover all the costs of their educational program. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be United States citizens; students in the final two years of study in Landscape Architecture at the University of California at Los Angeles Extension Program, or in the case of UCLA's termination of the program, other California accredited schools of programs in Landscape Architecture. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a minimum grade point average of B. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. Use of funds is restricted to tuition, books and program required supplies within the school year of the award. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in .jpg format) and a personal profile (two pages including education, extracurricular activities and financial information); a 500-word essay describing the applicant's aspirations, ability to surmount obstacles, high level of drive and need for financial assistance; two letters of recommendation from current professors familiar with the applicant's character and goals in pursuing an education in landscape architecture. Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize an outstanding landscape architecture, horticulture or irrigation science student. Focus: Landscape architecture and design; Horticulture. Qualif.: Applicants must be students in the final two years of undergraduate study (third-, fourth-, or fifth-year students) who have demonstrated commitment to these professions through participation in extracurricular activities and exemplary scholastic achievements. Criteria: Scholarship recipient will be selected based on the review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $2,500. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicant s must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in extracurricular activities and financial information); a cover letter; a typed, double-spaced 300-word essay stating career goals and explaining how the applicant will contribute to the advancement of the profession of landscape architecture, horticulture or irrigation science. All application materials (with the exception of reference letters) must be sent through email as a single document. Each document must be formatted as follows: create one-inch minimum margins; include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant. Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowships Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To assist graduate students with study and research at an American institution. Focus: Landscape architecture and design. Qualif.: Applicants must be studying at an American institution. Criteria: Fellowship recipient will be selected based on the degree to which the proposed fellowship work addresses GCA objectives: to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and to restore, improve and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement. Preference will also be given to the student with an excellent academic record.

Funds Avail.: $4,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit an entry form, a photo (head shot with a plain background; 300 ppi, size 4x6 inches in .jpg format) and a personal profile (two-page maximum including education, extracurricular activities and financial information); a cover letter; a written proposal for the work to be undertaken (four-page maximum; proposal must contain an objective, outcome and method); a one-page budget for the proposed work; a current resume; a letter of endorsement from applicant's faculty advisor, which also certifies enrollment; and two additional recommendations. All application materials (with the exception of reference letters) must be sent through email as a single document. Each document must be formatted as follows: create one-inch minimum margins; include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant.
