Kyutaro & Yasuo Abiko Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified individuals. Focus: Journalism; Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an individual or student/youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicant must be a high school senior. Criteria: Preference will be given to a student studying journalism or agriculture.

Funds Avail.: $60,000. To Apply: Application forms are available online at www.jacl.org/join.html. Deadline: March 1 (entering freshman) and April 1 (all applications excluding entering freshman).

Alice Yuriko Endo Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified individuals. Focus: Public service. Qualif.: Applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an individual or student/youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicant must be a high school senior. Criteria: Preference for this scholarship will be given to a student residing in the Eastern District Council and/or a student with an interest in public and social service.

Thomas T. Hayashi Memorial Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage individuals to pursue their legal profession. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Applicants must be active National JACL members at either an individual or student/youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicant must be a high school senior. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on their application requirements.

Magoichi & Shizuko Kato Memorial Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified individuals. Focus: Medicine; Ministry. Qualif.: Applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an individual or student/youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicant must be a high school senior. Criteria: Preference will be given to a student planning a career in medicine or ministry.

Sam S. Kuwahara Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support for qualified students intending to pursue their education. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an individual or Student/Youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicants must be a high school senior. Criteria: Preference for this scholarship will be given to students with an interest in agriculture or related field.

Gongoro Nakamura Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for deserving students intending to pursue their studies. Focus: Speech, Debate, and Forensics. Qualif.: Applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an individual or Student/Youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicants must be a high school senior. Criteria: Preference for this scholarship will be given to a student with an interest in public speaking or debate.

Dr. Kiyoshi Sonoda Memorial Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified individuals. Focus: Dentistry. Qualif.: Program is open to students studying in the field of dentistry; must be active National JACL members at either an individual or student/youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicant must be a high school senior. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on the application requirements.

Minoru Yasui Memorial Scholarship (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for qualified individuals. Focus: Human rights; Civil rights; Sociology; Law; Education. Qualif.: Applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an individual or student/youth level; must be planning to attend full-time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States at the undergraduate or graduate school level. Entering freshman applicant must be a high school senior. Criteria: Preference will be given to students with a strong interest in human rights and civil rights.
