Union Plus Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist students pursuing their post-secondary education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a current or retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (including foster children, step children, and any other child for whom the individual member provides greater than 50% of his or her support) can apply for a Union Plus

Scholarship; must be accepted into an accredited college or university, community college or recognized technical or trade school. Criteria: Applicants for scholarships are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor. Scholarship applications are judged by a committee of impartial post secondary educators.

Funds Avail.: $500-4,000. To Apply: Application forms are in the website. Deadline: January 31.

U.S. Bates Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist the children of BAC members in pursuing a college education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a son or daughter of U.S BAC members (in good standing) of U.S. BAC locals who will be juniors in high school; must take or plan to take the standardized PSAT exam in the fall of their junior year. Criteria: Selection of recipients is administered through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Funds Avail.: $2,500. Number Awarded: 3-4. To Apply: Applicant must apply during their junior year in high school. For further information, applicants are advised to contact BAC's Educational Department at [email protected] or call 888880-8BAC.
