Description:

Independent, comprehensive, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees and post-master's certificates. Founded 1898. Setting: 170-acre suburban campus. Endowment: $3.4 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $2747 per student. Total enrollment: 2,039. Faculty: 53 (47 full-time, 6 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 19:1. 667 applied, 97% were admitted. 4% from top 10% of their high school class, 19% from top quarter, 57% from top half. 9 class presidents, 2 valedictorians, 54 student government officers. Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, student-run newspaper, radio station. Social organizations: 31 open to all; national fraternities, local fraternities, local sororities; 2% of eligible men and 4% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: student government, Organization of Student Nurses, Organization of Physical Therapy Students, Accounting Society, Phi Beta Lambda. Major annual events: Chief Week, Spring Fling, homecoming. Student services: health clinic, personal-psychological counseling. Campus security: 24-hour emergency response devices and patrols. 790 college housing spaces available; 700 were occupied in 2003-04. Freshmen guaranteed college housing. On-campus residence required through senior year. Option: coed housing available. Sawyer Library with 37,871 books, 15,147 microform titles, 500 serials, 190 audiovisual materials, an OPAC, and a Web page.
