Description:

State and locally supported, 2-year, coed. Part of Mississippi State Board for Community and Junior Colleges. Awards certificates, diplomas, transfer associate, and terminal associate degrees. Founded 1917. Setting: 671-acre small town campus. Endowment: $948,556. Educational spending 2003-04: $3009 per student. Total enrollment: 9,961. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 17:1. 21% from top quarter of their high school class, 59% from top half. Full-time: 7,145 students, 63% women, 37% men. Community Environment:

Raymond is a suburban area 15 miles east of Jackson. The community has a regional library and a general hospital 8 miles east. There are several churches of various denominations in the immediate area. Local clubs include Lions, Business & Professional Women, and the Jaycees. Hinds Community College has a part-time employment agreement with a local industry.
