Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships (Doctorate, Postgraduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for German and American doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars in the fields of German history, the history of German-American relations, and the history of the role of Germany and the USA in international relations. Focus: German studies; History, American. Qualif.: Applicants must be German and American doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars in the fields of German history, the history of German-American relations, and the history of the role of Germany and the USA in international relations. Criteria: Scholarship recipient will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.
Funds Avail.: 1,600 Euro for doctoral students; 2,800 Euro for post-doctoral scholars. To Apply: Applicants must submit two copies of: a cover letter; curriculum vitae; transcripts; project descriptions (in 3,000 words); research schedule; letter of reference. Deadline: May 20 and October 15.
GHI Fellowships at the Horner Library (Doctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide travel subsidy and allowance to PhD and MA students for their research at the Joseph Horner Memorial Library in Philadelphia. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be PhD or MA students. Criteria: Scholarship recipient will be selected based on the Selection Committee's review of the application materials.
Funds Avail.: $1,000-$3,500 and a travel subsidy. Number Awarded: 2-4. To Apply: Applicants must submit a two-page project description; a curriculum vitae, copies of transcripts; and the name of the reference. Applications (in English or German) should be made electronically to the GHI. Deadline: March 1.
Kade-Heideking Fellowships (Doctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for German doctoral students. Focus: German studies; History, American; European studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be German doctoral students working in the areas of: American history and German-American relations; international history; and German and European history. Criteria: Scholarship recipient will be selected based on the Selection Committee's review of the application materials.
Funds Avail.: $30,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a cover letter; curriculum vitae; proof of academic degree; 8-10 pages of project description; research schedule; two confidential reference letters.
Remarks: The fellowship is funded by the Annette Kade Charitable Trust.
Thyssen-Heideking Fellowships (Postdoctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for American scholars. Focus: German studies; History, American; European studies. Qualif.: Applicants must an American scholars working in the areas of: American history and German-American relations; international history; and German and European history. Criteria: Scholarship recipient will be selected based on the Selection Committee's review of the application materials.
Funds Avail.: 25,000 Euro. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a cover letter; curriculum vitae; proof of academic degree; 8-10 pages project description; research schedule; two confidential reference letters. Deadline: November 15.
