American Business Women’s Association Sarasota Chapter Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage and enable caring individuals to easily and effectively support the charitable causes that they care about. Focus: Business. Qualif.: Applicants must be female students with 3.0 unweighted high school GPA and must be of good character and have a career goal related to their college or university studies. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form; must submit a parent or guardian’s most recent 1040 federal tax form; must provide two letters of reference from people who know the applicant well; official acceptance letter from college or vocational school; and a copy of SAT and ACT scores.

Purpose: To encourage and enable caring individuals to easily and effectively support the charitable causes that they care about. Focus: Nursing. Qualif.: Applicants must be non-traditional students, males or females in Sarasota County pursuing RN, LPN, or CNA; must be accepted into the nursing programs at Manatee Community College or Sarasota County Technical Institute; and must maintain a 2.8 GPA to retain scholarship. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need.

To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form; must submit a parent or guardian’s most recent 1040 federal tax form; and must provide two letters of reference from people who know the applicant well; official acceptance letter from college or vocational school; and a copy of SAT and ACT scores.

Community Foundation of Sarasota County Adult Learner Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage and enable caring individuals to easily and effectively support the charitable causes that they care about. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be adult learners who are returning to vocational school or college after having been out of high school for a number of years. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the objective and competitive academic and non-academic factors plus demonstrated financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form; must submit a parent or guardian’s most recent 1040 federal tax form; and must provide two letters of reference from people who know the applicant well. Deadline: September 15.

Davis Educational Scholarship Fund (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage and enable caring individuals to easily and effectively support the charitable causes that they care about; to help students obtain a college degree or vocational training to pursue a career in nursing or the medical field. Focus: Medical education. Qualif.: Applicants must be accepted into a health related program.

Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need and on their educational objectives that will lead to a career in the health care field.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form; must submit a parent or guardian’s most recent 1040 federal tax form; must provide two letters of reference from people who know the applicant well; official acceptance letter from college or vocational school; and a copy of SAT and ACT scores.

Father Connie Dougherty Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To further education at a college, university, or institution of higher learning including education in advanced vocational training. Focus: General studies. Qua-lif.: Applicants must be graduates of Sarasota County public and private school. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; an official transcript; SAT or ACT scores; copy of Student Aid Report; and three letters of recommendation (one must come from a teacher and one from a community member who is not a teacher or relative). James Franklin and Dorothy J. Warnell Scholarship Fund (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage and enable caring individuals to easily and effectively support the charitable causes that they care about and to provide scholarships for adult learners in Sarasota County to pursue a professional certificate in hairdressing. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be residents of Sarasota County and post high school students. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need and on their educational objectives.

Purpose: To encourage and enable caring individuals to easily and effectively support the charitable causes that they care about and to provide scholarships for adult learners in Sarasota County to pursue a professional certificate in hairdressing. Qualif.: Applicants must be high school seniors, or those who are 25 years old or younger who are currently attending college. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need, leadership potential, academic performance, work experience, and commitment to school and community through volunteerism.
