Beacon of Hope Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified, underprivileged, college-bound African American high school students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be African American graduating high school students; must be residents of Mississippi and/or Los Angeles, California; must have at least a “B” average and verification of acceptance and attendance at a four-year college or university in the United States; must participate in any scholarship-related public relations activities. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic achievement and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit the completed application form along with one certified copy of high school academic transcript; one original photograph; and a hard copy of an essay of at least 1,000 words entitled “Why I am Deserving of the Beacon of Hope Scholarship”.
