AAS CIAC Small Grants (Graduate, Other/Grant)

Purpose: To support funding requests for indirect costs of research. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be an AAS member, junior and independent scholar, adjunct faculty, and dissertation-level graduate student. Criteria: Applicants must express sincere interest in research, particularly in Chinese or Inner Asia studies.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicants need not fill out an application form; however, they must submit a 250-word abstract of the project, a detailed budget of anticipated expenses, including other sources of funding; a two-page (maximum) curriculum vitae of the director and the principal participants; in the case of graduate students, a letter of support from their dissertation advisor, without which the application will not be considered. Deadline: February 1.

AAS Korean Studies Scholarship Program (Doctorate, Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship to graduate students majoring in Korean studies in North America for their coursework and/or research. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be M.A. or Ph.D. students majoring in Korean studies in any university in North America. Criteria: Applicants must exhibit sufficient ability to use Korean-language sources in their research and study.

Funds Avail.: $15,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete a Foundation Application Form, a three-page proposal outlining research interests and academic progress of the student, with a separate one-page bibliography; grade transcripts of coursework; and three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from someone able to attest to

the applicant's language ability. Deadline: January 31.
