Herbert W. Nickens Medical Student Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To eliminate inequities in medical education and health care and demonstrated leadership efforts in addressing educational, societal, and health care needs of minorities in United States. Focus: Medicinal Education. Qualif.: Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents; must be entering third year of study in an accredited US medical school. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.
Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit one original and nine photocopies of nomination letter from the medical school's dean or the dean's designate discussing the leadership, academic achievement, awards and honors; letters of recommendation from the medical school and faculty member; personal statement (does not exceed 250 words) discussing motivation for pursuing medical career; curriculum vitae; and official medical school academic transcript.
