William G. Anderson, DO, Minority Scholarship (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide monetary scholarship to help defer the cost of students' osteopathic medical education. Focus: Osteopathic medicine. Qualif.: Any osteopathic student who will be entering his or her second- to fourth-year studies at an AOA accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine. Criteria: The recipient is chosen based on their outstanding academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, strong commitment toward osteopathic medicine, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicant shall meet the following criteria: Strong interest in osteopathic medicine, its philosophy and principles; Excellent academic achievement; Demonstrated leadership efforts in addressing the educational, societal, and health needs of minorities; Demonstrated leadership efforts to eliminate inequities in medical education and health care; Noteworthy accomplishments, awards and honors, clerkship or special projects, and extracurricular activities in which the student has shown leadership abilities; Financial need. Deadline: March 28.

Russell C. McCaughan, DO, Education Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide monetary scholarship to help defer the cost of students' osteopathic medical education. Focus: Osteopathic medicine. Qualif.: Any osteopathic medical student who will be entering their second year of studies in an AOA approved college/school of osteopathic medicine is eligible to be nominated for this scholarship. Criteria: Recipients shall meet the following criteria: Demonstrated

commitment to the osteopathic profession; Outstanding academic achievement during their first year of osteopathic medical education; Participation in extracurricular activities during their first year of osteopathic medical education; Demonstrated financial need to cover the cost of their osteopathic education.

Funds Avail.: $400. To Apply: Applicant must submit the following in one packet: Completed, typewritten or computer generated Nomination form; Letter of recommendation from the nominator; Letter from Dean certifying that the applicant is in good academic standing and states the applicant's class ranking; Letter from the Director of Financial Aid verifying the students financial need for educational assistance; Personal statement of one page or less expressing why the nominee believes he or she should receive third scholarship and should emphasize how they meet the eligibility criteria; Official medical school academic transcript. Deadline: April 25.

Procter and Gamble Complex PE Scholars Grant (Undergraduate/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To provide monetary aid to osteopathic medical students to help defray the costs involved of taking COMPLEX-USA Level 2-PE. Focus: Osteopathic medicine. Qualif.: Any osteopathic student who will be an OMS III or OMS IV during December of the year the grant is offered, and is currently enrolled at an AOA accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine, is eligible to be nominated for this grant. Criteria: Recipients shall meet the following criteria: Strong interest in osteopathic medicine, its philosophy and principle. Excellent academic achievement and successful completion COMPLEX-USA Level 1; Participation in school/community life outside of class requirements, as well as participation in professionally related activities during osteopathic medical school; Serves as an ambassador for the school and the osteopathic profession.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: The Dean at each COM/SOM is invited to nominate one student who best meets the eligibility criteria. The following should be sent in own complete packet: Completed, typewritten or computer generated nomination form; Letter of recommendation from the Dean (nominator); One letter of recommendation from someone involved with the nominee's osteopathic education that can speak to the nominee's qualifications for this grant based on the eligibility criteria. Deadline: April 4.

Savvy Student Traveler Grant Program (Undergraduate/Grant)

Purpose: To provide funding for osteopathic medical students. Focus: Osteopathic medicine. Qualif.: Any osteopathic student who will be entering his or her second-to fourth year of studies at an AOA accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine. Criteria: Grant will be given based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $750. To Apply: Applicant must submit the following in one packet: Completed, typewritten, or computer generated Nomination form; Letter of recommendation from the nominator; Letter from Dean certifying that the applicant is in good academic standing and states the applicant's class ranking; Personal statement; Official COM/SOM transcript; Current curriculum vitae or resume. Deadline: April 4.

Welch Scholars Grants (Undergraduate/Grant)

Purpose: To promote education within the osteopathic profession. Focus: Osteopathic medicine. Qualif.: Any osteopathic student who will be entering his or her second to fourth year of studies at an AOA accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine. Criteria: The recipient are chosen based on their outstanding academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, strong commitment toward osteopathic medicine, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicant must submit the following in one packet: Completed, typewritten or computer generated Nomination form; Letter from Dean certifying that the applicant is in good academic standing and states the applicant's class ranking; Letter from the Director of Financial Aid verifying the student's financial need for educational assistance; Letters of recommendation from two references who can speak to the applicant's qualification for this grant based on the eligibility criteria; Personal statement of not more than two pages; Personal financial need statement of not more than one page. Official medical school academic transcript (may be mailed separately). Deadline: April 25.
