AAST/ACS/NIGMS Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To facilitate the career development of individuals pursuing careers in trauma surgery research. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Applicants must be surgeon-scientists working in the early stages of their research careers; must be members in good standing of the ACS and eligible for membership in AAST. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the committee's review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $75,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit K08 or K23 application simultaneously to NIGMS and ACS Scholarship administrators. Deadline: October 12. Contact: [email protected][email protected]

AAST/KCI Research Grants (All/Grant)

Purpose: To sponsor clinical research in the area of wound care. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Program is open to individuals intending to conduct clinical research in the area of wound care only. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the Scholarship Committee's review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $50,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form including curriculum vitae, bibliography and research proposals. Applicants are also required to submit one typed original copy of the application form and four 3-hole punched photocopies. Deadline: February 15. Contact: Robert C. Mackersie.

AAST Medical Student Scholarships (All/Scholarship)

Purpose: To sponsor medical research in the fields of burns, trauma and acute care surgery. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Program is open for medical students who attend the AAST annual meeting. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the Scholarship Committee's review of application materials.

Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the Scholarship Committee's review of application materials.
