Lyons, Eric Alfred
Lyons, Eric Alfred (1912–78). English Modern Movement architect, he worked with many professionals, including Gropius and Fry, before setting up an office with G. P. Townsend in 1945, a partnership that lasted until 1950, after which Lyons practised in London on his own before taking Ivor Richard Cunningham (1928– ) into partnership in 1963. The firm specialized in designing speculative housing developments in a modern idiom, including the landscaping and planning of entire estates, e.g. the SPAN housing at Blackheath, London (1959–63), and Weybridge, Surrey (1964–5).
