Knott, Ralph
Knott, Ralph (1879–1929). London-born English architect. He assisted Aston Webb and in 1908 won the competition to design London's County Hall, a massive building in which Baroque, Neo-Classicism, and even Mannerism play their parts. Shortly afterwards Knott took Ernest Stone Collins (1874–1942) into partnership, and together they produced several well-mannered buildings, including 21 Upper Grosvenor Street, London (1913). Knott collaborated with Arnold Thornely on the designs for the Greek Revival Parliament Buildings, Stormont, Northern Ireland, and he and Collins designed the Speaker's House, Stormont (1926) in the years preceding his early death.
