Elsaesser, Martin (1884–1957). German architect. He studied under Bonatz and Theodor Fischer, from whom he gained his interest in historical styles. He was an important educator, and published Einführung in das Entwerfen (Introduction to Design—1950) and Wohnung und Lebensgefühl (Dwelling and Living Sense—1955). Many of his designs for houses, schools, churches, and hospitals were published in 1933: most have simple forms, pitched roofs, and agreeable proportions.
