Bacon, Edmund Norwood (1910–2005). Born in Philadelphia, PA, USA, he contributed to architecture and town-planning, especially in his native city, and was the author of numerous works on planning. An enthusiastic supporter of urban renewal, much of his work was adversely criticized. His book, Design of Cites (1967 –with subsequent editions), became an influential text in schools of Architecture and Town Planning, not always with happy outcomes.
