Artinatural
Artinatural. Style lying between the formal and informal, defined by Batty Langley in his Practical Geometry (1726) and New Principles of Gardening (1728) as ‘regular irregularity’: in landscape-gardens this signified a symmetrical geometry overlaid by asymmetrical elements such as serpentine paths.
