PERSONAL: Surname is sometimes transliterated as Talirunili or Talirunilik; born c. 1899 (sources range from 1893 to 1906), in Neahungnuk, Inuit state of Kooalik, Puvirnituq; died September 13, 1976; married Lydia Arnasuk Panialuk Surusiq; children: seven, including Sarah Joe Talirunnilik Qinuajuak.


CAREER: Sculptor and printmaker. Exhibitions: Held solo exhibitions at Canadiana Galleries and Inuit Gallery of Eskimo Art; represented in group shows, 1966-94, including exhibitions at Art Gallery of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Ontario, Inuit Gallery of Vancouver, and in a traveling exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution; work collected widely throughout Canada, including Avataq Cultural Institute, Canada Council Art Bank, Canadian Guild of Crafts, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Museum of Anthropology at University of British Columbia, National Gallery of Canada, and McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
