See index for CA sketch: Born June 25, 1936; died of cancer, April 27, 2007. Journalist and author. Kennedy was a journalist who published books on business and social history. After attending the Lycée Français in London, she became a correspondent for the Canadian Press in 1965. From 1974 to 1996 she was on the staff of Director, the journal of the British Institute of Directors. She rose from associate to executive editor, also working as a business columnist. During the same period, she was London correspondent for Maclean's in Toronto. Among her business books are Management: An Achiever's Guide (1987), Managing with the Gurus: Top-Level Guidance on Twenty Management Techniques (1994), and The Next Big Idea: Managing in the Digital Economy (2001). Kennedy was also appreciated for her biographies and social histories, such as Mayfair: A Social History (1986) and The Merchant Princes: Family, Fortune, and Philanthropy: Cadbury, Sainsbury, and John Lewis (2000).
